Microsoft – SQLServer – List MS SQL Server

Every one in a while, you ‘re in a new environment or network and you need to quickly know all the MS SQL Servers in that Network.

One way of doing so it to use “osql”.

Syntax:

   osql -L

In cases, where you do not want certain MS SQL Server Instances to broadcast their presence on their network, try

  1. In SQL Server Configuration Manager, expand SQL Server Network Configuration, right-click Protocols for <server instance>, and then selectProperties.
  2. On the Flags tab, in the HideInstance box, select Yes, and then click OK to close the dialog box. The change takes effect immediately for new connections.
