Microsoft – SQLServer – DataType – Identity Columns

Identity Columns are used quite a bit in database.

SQL Server has a few functions dedicated to working with this datatype.

Here are some of those functions:

a) IdentityCol

The IdentityCol allows one to reference an Identity Column without explicitly referring to that column by its name.

Sample Code:

     select max(IDENTITYCOL)
     from dbo.company
