Microsoft – Visual Studio – Error – The type or namespace name ‘ManagementScope’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Introduction

In Microsoft Visual Studio, when we tried building a new project, we got this error message:

“The type or namespace name ‘ManagementScope’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)”

Problem Identification:

The System.Management and System.Management.Instrumentation components were not included as part of the project.

To fix:

  1. Click on the menu items (Project \ Add Reference)
  2. In the “Add Reference” window, access the “.NET” tab
  3. Select the “System.Management” and “System.Management.Instrumentation” entries

Reference:

  1. Problem with namespace error
