MS SQL Server – SQL Server Configuration Manager

__________________________________________________________________________________

Error Title :-  WMI Provider Error

Error Detail :- The specified network password is not correct. [0x80070056]

__________________________________________________________________________________

Steps:

  1. Launch SQL Server Configuration Manager
  2. Try to change SQL Server Service Account
  3. An error is displayed stating “The specified network password is not correct. [0x80070056]”

Hint:

  1. In our case,  we had recently done a VMWare V-to-V conversation and it appears that the computer and domain controller are not in sync.

BTW, we are able to change the Service Account using the Services (services.msc) applet

To fix:

  1. Remove computer from domain
  2. Re-add computer to domain
